This steep, underused side yard needed more than just a facelift—it needed structure, flow, and a low-maintenance solution that would hold up year-round. The homeowners wanted to soften the slope without adding retaining walls, and still make it accessible and visually inviting from the patio above.
We began with grading and soil prep, then installed sod to create a green anchor at the base of the slope. A curved gravel path was built along the side, bordered by concrete edging and laid with natural stone pavers for visual interest and safe footing. On the upper slope, we shaped in mulch beds and decorative rock to control erosion and reduce water use.
This project is a great example of how simple materials and clean layout choices can turn a tricky hillside into a polished, practical part of the yard.
